Between 1894 and 1895, A. Schlosshauer served as captain of Windward, the ship of the British Exploring Expedition (Jackson-Harmsworth Polar Expedition), 1894-1897 (leader Frederick Jackson). Between 31 July and 5 August 1894, Windward called at Arkhangel'sk before sailing to Yugorskiy Shar where the expedition picked up dogs.
